Mrs. Chrissy Simmons is the Executive Director of Maslow Academy of Applied Learning and Bright Beginnings. She was born in Montrose and lived here most of my childhood, moving away to Durango for her teenage years. She feels very privileged to have grown up in Colorado and on the Western Slope. There is nothing like the beautiful mountains and clean air to help a child grow up strong! That is why, after living for many years away, I have brought my son and husband back to live in her hometown. She is very glad to live here again and to share this amazing place with her family.
Mrs. Simmons has a degree in Hospitality Administration from Metropolitan State College of Denver. Her first career was managing restaurants and corporate training. She lived in Tucson, Phoenix and Las Vegas, and Denver, transferring around with a company she worked for since college.
After her son was born, she realized that she wanted a more rewarding career, one that she dreamed about since she was little girl. In 2001, she went back to college where she received her Masters degree in Elementary Education from University of Phoenix. Additionally, she received her teaching certificate. Most recently, she received her Colorado Principal License from Adams State University.
Mrs. Simmons began her career by teaching kindergarten. She taught kindergarten in Tucson Arizona for six years. During the summer, she taught first and second grade summer school for English language learners. After she moved back to Montrose, she taught fifth grade in the Montrose school district for 2 years. In 2011, she became a part of the Bright Beginnings and Maslow Academy family, teaching multi-aged kindergarten through second grade.
She know she made the right choice becoming an educator. She has the passion for helping children grow and discover their world. She her students to love school and learning as much, if not more than she does.
In her spare time, she can usually be found with her wonderful family, riding bikes, enjoying sporting events or cooking together. Her son is amazing and she especially like to watch him play sports.
Currently, she is the Executive Director at Maslow Academy of Applied Learning and Bright Beginnings preschool. She is very excited to be a part of the Maslow Academy of Applied Learning team and looks forward to meeting you and your children along with working together to help your child reach their peak potential.
